Cornbelly's

One day after work last week, Sally and I headed up to Thanksgiving Point for a play date (aka, an excuse to get out of the house). When we moved, we lucked out because our neighbors' daughter is just two months older than Sally! As you can see, they're at the age where they're aware of each other, but more interested in the corn shucks and dried pieces of corn on the ground.

While we were there, Sally put some corn shuck in her mouth and began choking on it, and then proceeded to swallow it as I frantically tried to fish it out, so that was fun.
The weather was perfect, and we had a great time. It's probably one of our last afternoons in the 60s for a while, so I'm glad we took advantage of it.

Also, I just have to vent about my hair for a second here. I'm turning into Little House on the Prairie, people! For three months my hair was falling out until even my thick-haired self was starting to worry about going bald. And THEN it stopped falling out and started to grow back in. And now I have all these short hairs that make for a constant "glow" of frizziness around my hairline. I'm in desperate need of a change, or I might as well start wearing long dresses and bonnets. I'm thinking I will do a shoulder-length bob with some side-swept bangs to hide my new hairs growing in. I'm not sure on the color yet, though. Maybe caramel-ish? I don't know. Anyway, that's that.

Cousin Halloween Party

My mom was in town just recently, and I thought it'd be fun to do a cousin Halloween party while she was around. It ended up being great! Sally was pretty sad during it, both from being tired and teething. But I loved the excuse to get her dressed up in her elephant costume!

I took pictures of all of my nieces in their get-up. We had a witch, a pirate, a gypsy, a dancer, a nerd, and two Alice in Wonderlands!

Sally Around the House

I can't get over how quickly Sally is learning and changing right now. Just earlier this week she started saying "diddee" for "kitty." And now she walks around while holding onto furniture. And she thinks pulling my hair is the most fantastic joke ever. My little girl is growing up. I even think she's beginning to shed some of her baby fat because multiple people have told me she looks thinner in just the last few days. I'm not sure what to make of that fact. I'm just trying to enjoy our girl the best I can for now, I guess.

Sometimes in the evening when I'm not sure what else to do to keep her entertained, I just get out my camera. Here are some of my favorite pictures of Sal over the last few weeks:

Alpine Loop

Johnny knows how much I love fall, and so he suggested that we drive the Alpine Loop toward the end of September. It was beautiful. I loved every second, and I think Johnny loved it, too, even if he'd never admit it. These pictures just don't do it justice, but I tried.

It's the Great Pumpkin

One perk of moving back to somewhere you've lived previously is getting to catch up with old friends you knew before. One Saturday in September, we met up with Travis and Kira at Thanksgiving Point because Travis was part of a giant pumpkin growers contest. It was a very festive event, and we loved getting to see some of our favorite people!
