Rock Climbing

Sal in our hotel bed --- right at home

One of our weeks on vacation in Utah was spent in work meetings --- my work meetings. Johnny, Sally, and I stayed in a hotel in downtown Salt Lake, and each day Johnny tended Sally while I pretended to be an adult. I must say, I really enjoyed getting dressed up each day, but the meetings were exhausting and stressful at times. Plus, I was getting hardly any sleep because Sally was waking up every single hour during the night in the hotel. We ended up letting her sleep in our bed some, which I'm sure was her plan all along.

After one day of meetings, I was feeling particularly stressed. My sister invited us to go rock climbing with her and her family, and it was the perfect escape. There's nothing like the adrenaline rush of climbing up a cliff to relieve some stress. We had a great time, and Johnny and I are excited to hopefully climb many more times while we live near the mountains!

Sally was going through a particularly drooly stage --- can you tell? :)

Sally Tries Food for the First Time

Sally had her very first "food" while we were visiting Utah in July. She turned six months at the beginning of July, but I'd decided to just keep nursing her until life settled down after our vacation. But while we were in Utah, we decided to let Sally try some rice cereal (combined with my milk) while we were staying with my sister. And Sally gulped it down happily! Johnny and I took turns feeding her and both feeling like our little baby was growing up too fast. And, with all the faces Sal was making, it was a perfect photo op :).

Wheeler Farm

While we were vacationing in Utah in July, Johnny had a job interview in Dallas. While he was down in Texas, Sally and I stayed with my sister Sarah in Salt Lake. She has three children, and Sally loved getting to spend some time with them.

One morning Sarah and I headed with the kids to Wheeler Farm, which is a historical farm near my sister's house. It was full of geese, other farm animals, and the setting was beautiful.

In the end, Sally was hot, tired, and exhausted, but a happy little girl :).

4th of July 2013

Before all the craziness of moving occurred, we spent two weeks in Utah to visit family. For the first part of our visit, we stayed with Johnny's sister Sarah and her family. They were gracious hosts, and it was really fun to see Sally and her cousins together.

On the fourth, we started out the morning with Sarah and her family (where we had spent the night).

We spent the afternoon at Johnny's parents house. It was a beautiful day, and Sally was quite content to sit in the grass.
Sally with Uncle Will and Aunt Caitlin. She was perfectly happy watching herself on camera.

We loved being with everyone! It was the first 4th of July we'd been with family in a long time!

Jake and Britney's Reception

Jake and Britney had a beautiful reception. The weather was perfect, and the setting was magical. It was great to be with everyone and celebrate such a great couple (and eat cake and crepes!)!
It was past Sally's bedtime, so she took a short nap during the reception. But when we left to go home at 9:00, she was wide awake! :)
