boston in spring

It's beautiful here. Boston seems to be a different city now that it's warm. Today's the Boston Marathon, and the high is 86. Several people who are running in it were at our church yesterday, doing their best not to worry about the high temperature today.

On Saturday Johnny and I ventured to Boston Common and the Public Garden. I'm loving springtime!

We need a vacation.

The above pictures look so serene, and that is precisely what this post is not about. Although, I posted them because my favorite part about spring is seeing the color green again. Everything is brown and dead looking, and then the color green slowly starts showing up outside, and everything feels alive once more. Just a few weeks ago, I walked past this vine, and it was completely brown and leafless---and now look at it.

But moving on... this week has been so stressful for some reason. I started off the week completely stressed out of my mind. I could not calm down for anything. And for Johnny, each day has gotten gradually more stressful. My stress is derived from something over which I have no control, so it's quite silly to be stressed out, but I just can't help it. Johnny's stress is mostly caused from an increasingly unmanageable workload. And then add a couple unrelated stressful events this week, and we were both on edge.

It seems like everything must be shown in info-graphic form these days, so here's a basic sketch up:

To ease my stress, I've been doing the following:
  • eating candy
  • doing yoga
  • cleaning
  • reading lighthearted novels
  • venting to a few unfortunate souls

Thankfully, it's Friday, and although I know Johnny will have to work through the weekend, at least we'll be together. That, above all, seems to be the best stress reliever.

Bulleted Update

Life has been pretty smooth sailing as of late. Here's what's been going on:

  • We went and saw Youth Lagoon in Cambridge. It was a great show. The concert was in between MIT and Harvard, and the guys behind us spent the whole concert talking about algorithms.
  • I went to the eye doctor recently and found out I no longer need glasses! I guess my eyes have improved now that they don't have to strain like they did in college. Also, after the appointment my eyes were dilated for a few hours, and I have never in my life felt so clumsy!
  • My sister Hannah is coming to visit at the end of this month, once she finishes up her Freshman year at BYU. I'm soooo excited to see her!
  • I got a haircut last week, and I went super blonde. I get major anxiety before any big change, but I've had no regrets! I love it so much.

That's all I can think of for now!
