I feel happy...

I've thought this a few times but never really voiced it. When you're a little kid, and even when you're a teenager, you imagine what your life will be like as an adult. I think I did this even more than other kids. I would imagine the kind of guy I would marry, and I made lists of the qualities and characteristics he would have. I designed a layout for my future home, and I planned on getting married at the age of 23.

Well, I turn 23 in four months and I never could have imagined how great my life would be at this point. I never could have imagined getting married at age 20, to a guy as great or good looking or charismatic as Johnny--he seriously is my dream boy. His personality compliments mine perfectly, and we really are very best friends. I have a college degree in English Language and a minor in Editing, neither of which I even knew existed, and I have a full-time job doing something that I enjoy and feel confident about.

I'm not saying things are perfect. I have been lost and confused at times. I have been sad, too.

And I know the future won't be perfect and that there will be hard times. But I know that as long as I keep trying my hardest, my life will continue to be better than I could ever imagine.

The Parking Ticket

Quick story:

Last night Johnny and I met in Provo after work for the BYU basketball game. I caught traffic on my commute home from SLC, so I arrived about fifteen minutes late. There was NO parking to be found anywhere. Well, except one place....Several cars had parked in the motorcycle parking, and there were still a few spots left. I decided to go for it. BYU's parking policies are absurd, but surely they wouldn't give out tickets during a game, would they? During the game I couldn't quit thinking about the possibility of getting a parking ticket, so Johnny and I went out to my car at halftime to decide if I should move it. We got to it and no ticket! Whew! Johnny saw the dozens of other cars parked by mine, and he said, "It's not like they're going to give tickets to every single one of you!" With a sigh of relief we went back into the game.
(We beat SDSU!!!!)
When the game had five minutes left and it was obvious we were going to win, I left the game in order to miss all the post-game traffic.
And there he was, standing by my car: the BYU parking guy. And on every single car in the row was a big fat yellow ticket.
I decided I must plead my case to the parking guy:

Me: I am so sorry, I had no idea I couldn't park here.
Traffic Guy on a Power Trip: Oh really? Well, ya see how small these spots are? (sarcasm dripping out of his mouth onto his bright orange coat)
Me: Well, there's a game. I had no idea parking was enforced during a game.
TGOAPT: Yep! We even give tickets on Sundays! (said with a smile) I'm sorry! (sarcasm and a smile)
Me: You sure don't seem sorry.

And with that I got in my car and drove away, furious. What a jerk! I thought of all the profanities I should have yelled at him, and I called Johnny. Me, who has never done an illegal thing in my whole life, never gotten a ticket, nothing. And that son of a gun treats me like that.
Anyway, after about fifteen minutes I was over it. But really, what a jerk. He could have at least been nice about it.

Violet

With all the changes we've been experiencing lately, I haven't had a chance to post about our newest niece, Violet. Isn't she beautiful?!

Elton John/Billy Joel Concert...

So... We went to see Elton John and Billy Joel in concert last weekend, and these were our seats! Through Johnny's work he has gotten to know a woman named Virginia who lives in Atlanta, and she happens to be best buds with one of Elton John's managers. Anyway, long story short, we had the opportunity so we took it. Our seats were amazing...usually they would have been over $1000 apiece, so we really got hooked up.

It was at the Energy Solutions arena in SLC, and it was packed!

We were backstage before the show, and we got to meet some of Elton's crew, including his guitarist Davey Johnstone. He was my favorite--he was really nice and down-to-earth. It wasn't until after we met him that we found out he is one of the most famous guitarists.

our guest passes

After about halfway through the show, we got out of our seats and watched the show from the side stage area! It was a very cool view.

Neither of us are big Elton John or Billy Joel fans, so that's why it was so random. They were great performers... We both thought Elton John was a better performer. We had a great time, and it was so nice/cool of Virginia to hook us up!

Update: Here's a pic of us with Virginia!

Had to document it...

I was needing a little pick-me-up, so I woke up thirty minutes earlier this morning, so I could actually put on makeup and fix my hair before work. This probably won't be happening again soon, so I had to document it (pardon the cheesy pose!). I have so much to share, but I just can't find the time! This weekend flew by! Our house still isn't quite ready for pics, but when it is, I will post plenty!!

Work

Well, I am into my third week at my new job. This, my friends, is what I look like every day at work. No makeup ever. I have yet to achieve my goal of getting up early enough to fix myself up. Alas, I look fresh out of high school rather than fresh out of college. My schedule 5x a week is as follows:
  • 6:29: Wake up.
  • 6:45: Go out and start the car so it can warm up.
  • 6:55: Leave for work.
  • 7:30: Arrive at work.
  • 4:00: Leave work.
  • 4:40: Arrive home.
  • 4:40-6:30: Veg.
  • 6:30: Johnny arrives home!!!!!!!
  • Try to get to sleep by 11:00 (usually it's around 12:30)

3 days until we move into our new place!

It's amazing what a good night's sleep can do. I was not in any way, shape, or form a

rational human being last night. I am just lucky to have such a patient, understanding

best friend for a husband.

Can't Wait!!

Howdy folks! Johnny and I are working, working, working. During the week the days blur into each other, and we savor every minute of our weekends. I've been dreaming about our new townhouse almost nightly. We move in this Saturday. I am so excited! We couldn't wish for better family to have stayed with than Johnny's parents, and we are so grateful we had their place as an option until we knew what our future held. However, everything feels kind of out of whack when you don't have your own place, and I am looking forward to it so, so much!!!!
