A Day in the Life of Sally

That pretty much sums it up. I might have left out a few minor things, like nursing six times a day, getting her diaper changed at least that much, being sad and fussy, and giving her mom and dad the most irresistible smiles to make up for all the other stuff.

Sally is growing and changing.

• Tonight is her second night sleeping in her crib in her own room! So far so good. It's hard for me, but I try not to think too much about it.
• She's really good at playtime now. Sally will lay and play for about an hour after every feeding. Sometimes I lay next to her and fall asleep on days when I'm especially exhausted.
• This past week was no good with sleep. Sally's still not taking good naps, and on top of that, she started waking up once during the night again. What is going on????? 
• We're due for a MAJOR explosion in the diaper department. Sally has neglected to poop for going on three days now. Her normal is/was three times PER DAY. I may be calling her pediatrician in the morning. I'm a worrier, so the nurses there get lots of calls from yours truly :) :).
• She's working on rolling over. It's close, peeps. She can almost make it to her side on her own.
• Sally is a certified butterball. All the other children at church are older and smaller! Johnny and I laugh at what a huge baby we've made. Sally is as big as a six-month-old.
• Our girl is quite a talker. She babbles for several minutes at a time, like she's telling a story to us. She'll get happy and then serious during it and just talk, talk, talk.
• Her favorite activity is gripping our hands and sitting up. It's her daily exercise for the day. Her second favorite activity is definitely TV watching, but we're trying not to encourage that one.

I can't believe we've almost got a three-month-old. The time is flying!

Easter 2013

It was our girl's first Easter! The Easter Bunny passed us by this year, but Sally's mom and dad still ate plenty of candy and had a yummy Easter dinner.

Our church doesn't start until 12:30, and yet we're running around like crazy people every Sunday to get ready. And church is very hectic, full of bouncing, rocking, walking around, feeding, and pacifying. Sundays are exhausting for sure.

Sally is always happiest after she's eaten, so we snapped a few pictures of her after church when she had a full belly and was ready to pose for the camera.

Happy Easter from the Galbraiths!

Two Months Old

Well, if you can't tell, Sally's a chubster these days. Our girl is a good little eater.

Sally is really starting to become so much more interactive. It's really fun to see some personality shine through our girl.

• She's just started making a clucking sound with her tongue. When we make the sound to her, she'll do it back to us. It's so cute, and she grins so big when she does it. 
• Sally smiles dozens of times each day. If she's not hungry for food or ready for sleep, all you have to do is smile at her, and she'll give you a big grin back.
• Sally has started being awake and content. She'll lay on the floor or in her bassinet and just coo and "talk" for up to half an hour. She also likes to sit in our laps and watch TV with us, but we're trying to keep that to a minimum :).
• Along those lines, I've started reading books to her, and she seems to enjoy it (aka, she doesn't cry).
• Sally's trying to figure out how to grab specific things, but she doesn't quite have control over what she grabs. You can almost see the wheels in her head spinning as she concentrates on grabbing hold of a toy that's dangled in front of her.
• At her 8-week appointment, Sally got her 2-month shots, which made her very sad and tired. I held her in my arms almost all day.
• Sally is sleeping great at night, but we're still working on her daytime naps. They tend to be very short lived.
• Sally is already wearing her 3-6 month clothing and size 2 diapers. She is one big girl!

We love little Sally more than anything. We can't imagine our lives without her now. She brings us so much joy and purpose, and we love seeing her grow and develop. Here are a few more two-month pics:

Sally's Blessing

Last Sunday was Sally's blessing at church. My parents and sister Lia came into town from Alabama, and it was great to have them around for the weekend. My dad and Lia hadn't met Sally yet, and I was so happy for her to meet more family. We loved getting to spend time with them. My mom fixed dinner one night, and she helped me clean and get Sally's clothing organized (since Sally is growing so fast!).

Having Johnny give Sally a blessing was a really special experience for our little family. Johnny and I just love Sally so much and we want the best for her. And it's crazy how having a baby makes you love your spouse even more than you already did. Johnny's a great dad already. Sally is a lucky girl in that department.

I wish I'd gotten more pictures of Sally in her dress, but I'm learning that I can't always have things just perfectly my way with a baby! ;)

Sally & Me

When my friend Angie was in town visiting, she took some beautiful pictures of Sally and me that I'll treasure forever. She's such a great photographer, and I'm so happy that she was willing to take some pictures. I initially wanted help taking pictures of Sally, and then Angie suggested that she take some of Sally and me together, and I am so glad she did! Here's a major picture overload of all my favorites.

Angie Visits!

My friend Angie came into town a couple weeks ago, and I'm just posting about it! Things have been crazy in our house, and I still feel like I'm always behind on something (or a few things).

I hadn't seen Angie since we moved from NYC in October 2011!! We've videochatted a lot since then, but it was so great to finally see her face and get to talk to her in person. Of course our visit included watching Downton Abbey and The Bachelor. AND we discussed Vampire Diaries. 

And Angie helped so much with Sally. She's a natural, and Sally loved her. Angie's gonna be a great mom. She even made us dinner one night... which means so much when you're a new mom. It was great to be with one of my favorite people for a few days.
