The Koellings Visit Boston

This past weekend we had such a fun time with our friends Pat and Lindsay. Several weeks ago they decided to come visit Boston, and then the timing worked out perfectly because we're moving next week! Getting to see them before our move was such a treat. We loved every single second we spent with them.

It was our last carefree weekend appreciating Boston, and we couldn't have picked more fun-loving people to be with. It was especially fun to see Lindsay because she and I are exactly three months apart in our pregnancies!

Exploring Boston with the Fam

I loved showing my family around Boston. It's a very walkable city, and everything worth seeing is within two miles of our apartment. I really can't get over how beautiful Boston is, and I was happy to see that my family thought so, too!

My family loved Boston Common, especially the above performer. There were performers like this in Central Park as well, and I always loved seeing them. They stay completely still until someone drops money in their box.

I can never pass up Nuts 4 Nuts.

And we couldn't resist getting some treats at Georgetown Cupcakes and Mike's Pastry while they were here. I think both places won my sisters over!

I always insist that visitors get the lobster tail at Mike's :)

4th of July 2012

My parents came up to Boston for the 4th! I wasn't sure what my Southern family would think of Boston, but I think they loved it! My mom thought the city was beautiful, and my youngest sister, Lia, was ready to move here.

We started off the morning of the 4th by walking down to the water to watch the Blue Angels and to see the USS Constitution sail.

We then walked around our neighborhood and heard the tale of Paul Revere at the Old North Church.

And then it was time for our 4th of July feast! Every time I tried taking pictures of the food, Johnny's hand somehow found its way into the shot. Exhibit A:

Our meal was so delicious!! It was one of my favorite parts of the day. Squash, coleslaw, corn on the cob, potato casserole, and barbecue sandwiches. It doesn't get much better than that.

That night we went to Bunker Hill to watch the fireworks. Lots of other people had the same idea as us, so we thought it must be a perfect seat. But the show started, and we realized that we weren't up high enough! So we quickly gathered our stuff and ran to the bridge, only to get caught in a downpour! Thankfully, we found an awning to get under, and we watched the show from there. It was definitely an unforgettable night!

Beacon Hill Excessiveness

I kind of feel bad about how many pictures are in this post. Hannah loved Beacon Hill and I love it, so for all of you who haven't been to Boston, hopefully this will kind of give you an idea of what Beacon Hill is like.

Hannah Comes to Boston

Last week my wonderful sister Hannah came to visit. She just finished up her freshman year at BYU, and she decided she wanted to come get to know Boston a little better.

We had such a great time while she was here! And Hannah got to experience a lot of firsts: first taxi ride, first subway ride, first time in the Northeast, and so on. Johnny and I loved having Hannah stay with us!

The first day Hannah was here, I took some pictures of her at a park near our house. As Johnny sarcastically put it, "Lucky Hannah!" Hahha, but she was very obliging, and she's beautiful, so I enjoyed taking some pictures of her.

Hopefully I'll get around to documenting the rest of my adventures with Hannah soon!
