When we arrived, we were directed from checkpoint to checkpoint. There were several. The second to last check point was a metal detector and bag check. Security was tight.
Then we finally made it to the memorial. It had been raining, but after a few minutes, the rain stopped. The memorial was breathtaking, touching, and sad. I snapped a few pictures, but they don't even begin to capture the magnificence of the waterfalls. I really don't think there could be a better way to memorialize the victims of 9/11. We loved it.

wow that is so beautiful--i bet it is even more magnificent in person. There is definitely something so emotional about the waterfalls; the way they sit is breathtaking. thanks for sharing
It is indeed breathtaking, touching, and sad. You stole all the most perfect descriptors for use in your post! What are the rest of us supposed to write?
No, but seriously, that was amazing to see. I remember the site from back when I visited NY in 2005, and this really is a very special way to commemorate those effected by the tragedy.
this makes me a little teary.
