| Johnny's pitiful cake |
Johnny turned 26 last Saturday!
Johnny enjoys a low-key birthday, which is actually very hard for me to do for him. I feel like I'm not doing enough, but really, it's what he likes.
Saturday was rainy, so Johnny spent most the day relaxing while I tried to make his birthday cake. Basically, everything that could go wrong did go wrong. The cake stuck to the pan horribly. Then, as I was making the icing on the gas stove, the saucepan got too hot too fast, and the icing turned into a thick mess. So Johnny got a very hideous cake. Somehow, it still tasted good.
Johnny of course had to joke that "This is what I get now that we've been married 4 years."
For his birthday dinner, we went to Libertador, an Argentinian restaurant in our neighborhood. Johnny was very happy to be able to cover his steak in chimichurri sauce.
Afterward, we watched a movie together. Maybe next year Johnny will get a better cake!

That sounds lovely. Happy birthday, Johnny!
You are so cute! I would have freaked and started over, but I like your way better :) Makes for a better story!
Sounds like a perfect night! Happy Birthday to Johnny!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who messes up cakes sometimes! My layer cakes NEVER look right. They're always lopsided. I love it, Jo!!!
I tried to recreate the cake Jared's mom always made him on his birthday the first year we were married. It turned out super dry and needed a major salvage job. There's always next year, I say! At least it tasted good.
Love that you included the cake in all it's glory. Was that a double trouble chocolate cake?
haha! I am gonna be better about documenting the things that don't turn out and you are my inspiration!
