24 for 24 on the 24th

Friday was my 24th birthday. It was a great day.

The night before, my friends Lindsay and Angie surprised me with a early birthday celebration, which you can read about here. I feel very lucky to have such good friends.

That night Lindsay gave me a print I'd been wanting for a long time (shown below), and then the next day Angie brought me a lemon-blueberry cupcake and a beautiful necklace during her lunch break! It was such a fun addition to my day!

During the day I got phone calls and texts from family and friends, birthday mail, and birthday emails. I now have a lot of shopping to do on Amazon!

Also, Johnny got home early from work and made me a birthday cake! I KNOW. Crazy. As far as I know, Johnny had never made a cake before, so I was very interested to see how his cake would turn out. He ended up doing a perfect job, as you can see:

Johnny and I went to Hill Country Barbecue for dinner, and I got to eat barbecue, corn pudding, and coleslaw,  which is just my kind of meal.

However, my favorite part of my birthday were the messages Johnny sent me. Starting at midnight on the 24th, I got a message in my inbox every hour for all 24 hours of my birthday. It made me feel so special and look forward to each new hour of the day! I listed some of them below.

Reasons I'm Glad You Were Born

I think I'd probably starve to death. Or just eat ramen and hot dogs.

You taught our cat how to stand up like a human.

I have a best friend to go on walks with at night.

I learned how to loosen up a little bit and be a little bit more spontaneous and fun loving.

I was able to go to the Birmingham Alabama Temple. And also get married in it.

I wouldn't have anything to put my arm around in bed.

I wouldn't have been able to get pulled over by a cop and accused of holding a young girl against her will.

Because I don't know anyone that would ever think to pretend like they are frozen on their webcam. And that's messed.

I would never realize that it's possible for girls to still look beautiful when they wake up in the morning. Breath is a different story.

I wouldn't get random emails throughout the day of a webcam picture of a pretty girl showing me her new hair, or new clothes, or new cat trick, or just to say she misses me.

My yells and hollers during BYU sports events would fall on deaf ears. Actually no ears, which is worse than deaf ears.

I wouldn't have completed my astronomy project counting shooting stars.

Without you, I wouldn't have a better half.

I wouldn't have the most amazing, beautiful, messed, sweet, kind, fun wife in the entire world. I hope you had a wonderful day and that you're not sick from the cake I tried baking. You're my best friend and I'm so glad to spend the next 2 years... I mean the rest of our lives together. I'm really really lucky to have you. I love you! You're the best.

Love the list. I'm sure only your husband could get away with calling you "messed." ;)
