| waiting for the doors to open |
Once we actually got inside, the opener didn't even start playing for another hour and a half, which we didn't realize. However, it ensured we were at the very front, and it gave me time to snoop around and take pictures.
The opening band was called The Lonely Forest. Johnny thought the drummer looked like Hurley from Lost. I agreed.
Then came DCFC. They played 26 songs. 26! It was so great. I love being able to just sit back and be absorbed by music and not think about anything else. Poor Ben Gibbard, though. By the end he was literally drenched in sweat from head to toe.
The show ended at around midnight, and we headed outside and just sat on the concrete for a while, resting after standing for a solid 5 hours.
We still hadn't eaten dinner yet so we ended the night with street meat. It was a perfect night out with my boy.

Hurley moonlights as a drummer for an unknown band? Who knew?
I saw Death Cab in Utah and it was one of the best concert I've ever been to. I think they sound so much better live than recorded. And small venues are much more intimate. Sounds like a great time.
me seeing these pictures makes me so excited. i just can't hide it. i'm about to lose control and i think i like it.
i must see them in hotttlanta.
Interesting, I always thought DCFC would probably suck live because their music is so produced. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I love the "Don't mind the picture. I always choose inopportune days to not do my hair or makeup." This is me pretty much every day. Pathetic. I also feel like standing for 5 hours straight without dinner is painful, but all for a good cause, I guess!
Yay! This makes me excited for when we get to see them in August! I'm a little worried about the fact that they played until midnight...I don't know if I can stay up that late!
