Life/Sally Update

Welp, as usual our lives are as busy as ever. Little Sal is growing and changing so much these days, and I'm just trying to enjoy every day with her. Here's what she's up to as of late:

  • She says "Yeah" now when I ask her a question. If she's really excited about what I'm asking, she'll say "Yeah" and grin and move her hands back and forth excitedly.
  • She is learning body parts. Her favorite is her belly button. But she can also identify her nose, teeth, and hair. Hair is a close second favorite. She likes to play with my hair while I'm rocking her, and she likes the way her hair looks once I've fixed it for the day.
  • Sally loves having her teeth brushed each night. She'll happily open her mouth when I tell her to say "Aaaah."
  • She is obsessed with hats and sunglasses. If she had her way, she'd wear one of her dad's hats all day long.
  • She is trying out other words, like "Cat" and "No no." She most often says it when we are going toward her room, and she thinks it's nap time.
  • Sally loves lounging on soft blankets. I love seeing her lounge. It's just so grown up. She'll lay on her back or stomach and just hang out.
  • Sally is also obsessed with coloring --- well, scribbling. We're learning about not coloring on walls or eating crayons, which I hope she is beginning to understand.
  • Sally's also learning about throwing things in the trash, rather than taking things out of the trash.
  • Sally loves to stack things and sort things.
  • Sally's favorite fruit is the strawberry. They're a staple in our house right now.
  • Sally loves getting hugs, and she loves giving hugs --- but only to her baby doll. She is also still pretty good with giving kisses and high fives when we ask for them.
  • Sally eats things (mostly food) off the ground several times a day. We can't get her to stop! It's like she thinks every piece of trash and discarded food was put on the floor as a snack just for her.
  • Sally takes one nap a day, usually for close to two hours, and she's sleeping 11 or 12 hours at night. But when she's not sleeping, she is so very, very busy.
Johnny and I have been busy with work and such, but we're trying to do some sort of mini-getaway each month. It has not happened yet this month, but we did start rock climbing lessons a few weeks ago, which has been super fun. We've had two lessons so far, and we have one more coming up. It's just Johnny and me with an instructor, and we've learned a lot. And in between lessons, we've been going to the rock climbing gym a few times a week. We are both loving it, and we're excited to start climbing outside when the weather warms up.

Also, starting tomorrow, I have to go into the office for the next four days for meetings. I've been kind of dreading it since I won't get to see Sally except when she wakes up and goes to sleep each night. I'm grateful for my job, though. I'll just be glad when this week is done.

So that's us these days!
