Friday at last!
This has seemed like a very long week in the Galbraith household. We are so, so excited for the weekend, for no other reason than it's the weekend!
Today is a beautiful day. It's crazy how happy a warm-ish (48 degrees) sunny day makes me feel. During my lunch break, I went out and about buying ingredients for our Valentine's dinner next Tuesday. I was met with a bit of a dilemma because when I ordered groceries this week, I forgot to order the food for our Valentine's Day dinner, which is traditionally a roast. Thus, despite the lack of any grocery stores nearby, I started my quest to find a roast, marinade, and vegetables. I found the marinade and vegetables at a little market down the street from our apartment, but I knew finding a roast was going to be more difficult. So for the first time ever in my life, I ventured into a butcher shop! As I waited to be helped, I watched the butchers prepare people's orders, handling the meat so effortlessly, and cutting through thick slabs as if they are cutting through practically nothing at all. When I told them I wanted a pot roast, they brought out this huge slab of meat and began cutting off a portion for me. They secured the resulting 3.5 pound roast in paper, and told me it would be $29.75. I was not expecting it to cost that much, but I couldn't complain since I'd found what I was looking for!
So it looks like our Valentine's dinner will be able to continue according to tradition!
This little glimpse of a beautiful day makes me realize how much I'm going to love Boston once there's warm weather. Until then, I plan to busy myself with a new crocheting/knitting project and perhaps begin training for a race with a friend. We'll see. Happy weekend!

Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay!
I am so excited! My schedule is hanging on my fridge and I bought two pairs of warm running tights yesterday. Wooo!!!!
I have never bought something at a butcher shop! I was even too intimidated to try to purchase something at the butcher counter at Fairway last week. So kudos to you for being all fancy and buying your roast there!
Ugh, the word "fancy" has been forever tainted for me by last week's incredibly awkward scene on The Bachelor. Which we need to watch together again!
