I love the new year. It's nice to be able to stow away the events from the year before and look forward to the year ahead. I love looking back and compartmentalizing how life has changed and progressed in the last 12 months. As 2011 was happening, it didn't seem that crazy, and it flew by. But when I looked back on our year, I realized it was a rather eventful one!
I started off the year falling in love with the JKO Reservoir in Central Park. It became my favorite place to run, and Johnny and I wandered up there together as much as possible.
In February I headed to Utah for a business trip, and in March Johnny and I took a trip to Vegas and Utah for the third year in a row with our brothers Rick and Will. The term "The Jimmer" was born.
March also brought our first visitors of the year—my sister Sarah and her friend Angelle. We also watched every single BYU basketball game, oftentimes with our best buds, the Hardings.
When the weather started warming up in April and May, I started going up to the Great Lawn and enjoying NYC life again. Johnny started his work's softball league, and Angie and I started hanging out as much as possible.
In June Johnny turned 26 and I turned 24, and my bestest friends Lindsay and Angie made my birthday special with a night of Sprinkles cupcakes and girl talk.
July brought the best fireworks show of our lives, a trip to Florida (and Harry Potter World!), and a visit from our friends Travis and Kira.
Caitlin and Bobby came and visited us in August, reminding us how much we miss our families. Johnny and Klane's Tropicana campaign was up in Grand Central Station for the whole month, and I couldn't have been more proud of my boy.
In September Johnny and I visited the WTC Memorial, and even still there are no words adequate to describe it, but if you ever get the chance, go. My brother Rick came to see us, and we took a trip up to Boston with him.
In October Johnny and I bid farewell to NYC much earlier than we had anticipated and made the move to Boston so we could begin an exciting new chapter of our lives. My dad came up for a brief business trip, and we got a visit from my sister Sarah and her husband Greg as well. We explored Boston with them and fell in love with our new home.
November and December brought a Thanksgiving and Christmas for two, and we settled nicely into our new lives as Bostonians. I also took a short trip to Alabama to see my family and my sister Jill before she left on a mission for our church.
Now, on January 1 2012, Johnny and I sit happily in our little home, looking forward to a new year. We have no idea what 2012 holds for us, but based on Johnny's current line of work, there's bound to be some excitement this year—a new president, in the very least.
We hope 2011 treated you well and may 2012 be a fresh start for us all.

Ahhhh - I miss you so much! I really need to call you one of these days. I thought about it tonight but didn't want to call right in the middle of dinner or something. Anyway.... you should call me whenever! Klane is obsessed with playing Battlefield, hence I am bored a lot! ;)
Anyway... loved your year recap and loved that we were a part of it. We need to make "Visiting Johnny and Joanna in Boston" one of our highlights of 2012!
P.S. Maybe a visit during March Madness is in order....? Just a thought.
Look at you making crafty picture collages!
