Taste the Rainbow

This week Johnny and I have started making our lunches. When we were engaged, we would scoff at the married couples we saw with their homemade lunches. Now that we have almost been married a year, we have no shame. One of our other "married couple" guilty pleasures is American Idol; tonight we even went so far as to vote. Gasp!

The past few days have been absolute bliss for me. It's been hot here. I am a summer girl. I love the heat. These past few days have been in the 80s, and nothing can get me down. I don't care that I have to wear a skirt and nylons at my first job or that my boss likes to call me into her office every two seconds just to have me open a letter for her. In fact, yesterday at my second job, I actually had fun folding letters and stuffing them into envelopes for three hours straight. As long as it's warm, I can get through anything. Much to my disappointment, tonight the weather woman said that the next few days are going to be chilly. But, I have a trick for cold days too. I just think of all the great things I have to look forward to: 1) Friday is Payday! 2) Monday is a holiday! and 3) We leave for the beach in 3 1/2 weeks! So, those lovely thoughts will get me through until it's warm again.

On Saturday Johnny and I hiked the Y. It was probably a pretty comical sight. We had to stop at almost every turn to catch our breath. At each turn, I would say something like, "Oh Johnny, let's stop and look at the view!" (I'd just like to think that I'm still adjusting to the altitude.) When we first started the hike, a guy next to us started running up. When we were about a 1/4 way to the Y, the same guy was passing us in the opposite direction at an unholy pace. We had a really fun time, and despite our frequent stops, we managed to pass a family with five kids under the age of seven. Let me tell ya, they were really bookin' it...
On the way down, we ran the whole way: getting to Sonic in time for a 1/2 off slushie is quite the motivation.
I have this nasty film over my teeth from eating too many skittles, so I'm gonna brush my teeth and go to bed.
