So it begins...

Hola. As I'm sure you've inferred, I am in yet another Spanish class. SO, let us begin another new year! Johnny and I hit our six-month mark on December 27th. I thought it would be some momentous occasion, almost like an anniversary of sorts. But the day came and went with each of us barely noticing. We were in Alabama at the time, so that was a celebration in and of itself.

This semester Johnny and I have class at eight every morning. It took many convincing sessions from Johnny for me to agree to this seemingly torturous decision. However, it has been rather nice (so far). When we walk out of our apartment, we see the sun coming up. As we start walking, Johnny mentions a weird dream he had the night before. I then slip on the ice. And so on, and so forth. Another day begins. It really has been fun to start our days together.

One problem I have had is that my first class is completely across campus. This has resulted in my arriving exactly three minutes late every day. The class is just beginning to sing the second verse of a hymn. I conspicuously walk in, take off my scarf and coat, and sit down. The main problem is that this is a small class, and I am the only one who ever comes in late. No one walks in after me. I am the last one. But at least I’m predictable. When the second verse starts, everyone knows I will walk in.

***The picture I attached is of Johnny and me as very newly newlyweds last summer. My parents came and visited us in our new apartment, and I found this picture on their computer when I was home for Christmas. I think this captures perfectly both of us so absorbed in our new life and oblivious of our haggard appearance. I was delighted to find it.
